Hello Families!  Just a few bits of information to let you know about the next two weeks. Firstly, a big thank you to parents and grandparents who helped with our stuffed animal project!! We couldn’t have done it without all your help! The final project is now on display in our hallway for everyone to see! If you get a chance this week, please pop in our school to check out all the art around the school! Each grade did something truly special that was inspired by The One and Only Ivan!

This day is so important!!! We have a ton of activities going on this day! We will be celebrating our hard work on our 3SOB with an assembly and doing a “family” activity. We will also be going on a Gorilla Walk in the afternoon. We are encouraging students to dress up in fun animal hats if they have one and to dress for the weather. Parents are definitely welcome to come along and get some fresh air with us! It is also hot lunch day! Please make sure to still send snacks and a drink with your child. We are in need of some board games on this day as well, so if you have one to share please send it with your child that day. Thanks!

Field Trip!!

We are heading off to Home Hardware for a field trip! This ties into our “Building Things” science unit that we are starting this week. We are going on February 14^th and will leave the school at 10 am and return for 11:30 . If you are able to drive and supervise on this day, please let me know!! It will be super fun!!! 

Valentine’s Day and 100 Day

We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day at school on the 14^th! It’s going to be a crazy day with the party and field trip, but it should be a great time!

Following the 14^th, we will be celebrating our 100^th day of school on the 15^th! That’s right- two parties in two days! We are also in need of one other parent volunteer to help out on 100 day! You will be in charge of supervising a centre in the gym where all the grade ones and twos will be celebrating together. This day is honestly a blast, and the kids have so much fun with it. If you are interested please let me know!!!

Sight Words and Spelling

There will be no spelling or sight words this week. Report cards are soon approaching so we will be hard at work assessing! You may have noticed a sight word review sheet that went home last week. This if for you to practice with your child at home. It does not need to come back and you can pick and choose what you would like to do from it, or you can do the whole thing! Totally up to you!

Math

We have been working on addition and paid special attention to doubles. Thank you for practicing the doubles facts at home. We are now working on subtraction facts.

Social

We have been talking about our community and where we live. Ask your child the following questions and see if they can answer them. 

We live in the country of____?  We live in the province of _______?
We live in the city of ________?
